Freestanding fridge freezers
You're measuring for a freestanding fridge freezer if: the appliance you've got your eye on is an all in one model and doesn't have cupboard doors attached.
Top tips to remember...
Freestanding fridge freezers aren't designed to sit behind your cupboard doors.
The main measurement to check is height, as this can vary by model.
Measure your space. Leave a little room either side so that the door can open.
Did you know?
Did you know that most fridge freezers come with reversible doors? We love to talk about it on the product page, so keep an eye out for it there.
Integrated fridge freezers
You're measuring for an integrated fridge freezer if: the appliance you've got your eye on is an all in one model that has a door fitted to the front to match the rest of your kitchen.
Integrated fridge freezers are usually a standard size so they can squeeze into a 60W x 60D housing unit. Remember, if you're replacing an integrated model, make sure the split type is the same so that cupboard doors fit. So, if your current model has a split of 70/30 which means the fridge is bigger than the freezer, choose an appliance with the same layout.
See ourbuying guide for more about fridge freezer split types.
Top tips to remember...
Integrated freezers are designed to be fitted with cupboard doors.
Leave a few centimetres at the back for pipes or sockets needed for connection.
Replacing an existing model? Check the new one isn't wider, or the doors may not open.
Door fixings
With integrated models, there are two types of hinges you need to consider; sliding and fixed. If you're replacing an old integrated appliance, make sure to buy the same type of hinge used on your old model for your new one. Watch our video to find out more.
